    Go watch this!
This is an amazing film! I don't know why everyone else is rating this movie lower than it should. I love the fact that this is a movie based around black western culture and not just poverty. Most African American movies you see today are all the same plot, you never see an all black film about fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers, etc. We are now just getting to see horror movies from Jordan Peele. Not only was the plot just pure gold, so were the actors and actresses, directing and camera angles. I mean the camera movements were everything. It gave you such a different look and perspective on how the scene was supposed to play out to your view. The build up of the plot to the end was magnificent. In my opinion, I feel like the movie hit all of my expectations for every scene. It gets a 10 out of 10 from me!

    things are gonna get tough
To the pantheon of revisionist westerns we can now add "The Harder They Fall", Jeymes Samuel's look at a group of rough folks in the southwest United States in the late 1800s. While watching it I didn't know that a number of the characters were real people. Whatever the case, this is one that you won't forget anytime soon. Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, and the rest of the cast put on some of the most intense performances that I've ever seen. It's often easy to forget who's "good" or "bad".

Like Sidney Poitier's "Buck and the Preacher", this movie draws attention to the neglected role that Black folks played in the Old West. Granted, I'm sure that Black folks played a more substantial role than the movie can depict, but either way, it's a fine piece of work. Definitely see it.

PS: Another movie by this title is a 1956 boxing movie, notable as Humphrey Bogart's final role (not long after the release, he found out that he had throat cancer). There was also the 1973 Jamaican movie "The Harder They Come", whose theme song has the chorus "But then the harder they come, the harder they fall".
