deloudelouvain - 8 June 2024 Nicolas Cage in a good movie, for a change... When Nicolas Cage's name pops up on a movie poster it's always an uncertainty if the movie is going to be a stinker or a decent and entertaining movie. At one point it looked like he would take on anything what resulted in a lot of mediocre or even very bad movies but lately it looks like he made better decisions. Renfield played by Nicholas Hoult is the familiar (the servant of a vampire) of Dracula, bringing him food (victims) and serve his master without questions. At one point he grows a conscience and that's when it starts to be funky. Good acting from the entire cast, some laughter, and well shot bloodbaths. There are well choreographed fighting scenes that make this movie standing out in the vampire genre. A good watch for the fans of lighthearted vampire movies.
hayward-alan - 6 February 2024 Wholesome Who would have thought that a movie about Count Dracula's stooge could have such a positive message about self empowerment! I thought this was excellently cast and Cage as Dracula was obviously a brilliant idea on paper but to focus only on his note perfect performance would be to do the rest of the excellent cast a disservice. Laughed several times, mainly at the splattertastic fight scenes which were will choreographed and edited. Always appreciate a movie which has scenes which are written as dark or night time but well enough lit to actually see what is going on. Cage's teeth were also brilliant.
