jordondave-28085 - 20 February 2023 Action movie has it's action moments for it's a cross between Mission Impossible and Infernal Affairs (2022) Yaksha: Ruthless Operations
(In Korean with English subtitles)
ACTION/ THRILLER
Co-written and directed by Hyeon Na- the intro is about 30 minutes long, and at the opening has an unknown character played by Sol Kyung-gu somewhere in Hong Kong running his vehicle to ram another vehicle before taking them out. Meanwhile, back in Seoul, prosecutor Han Ji-hoon (Park Hae-soo) fails to bring down a powerful criminal magnate, Chairman Lee (of the Sang-in Group) for suspected bribery and stock manipulation, and he tricks him into bowing his head to him. Han Ji-hoon then gets demoted back to NIS (National Intelligence Service) working for Prosecutor Park. One day, Director Yeom Jeong-Won (Jin Kyung) walks in and tries to get prosecutor Park to work for her, but Han Ji-hoon steps up instead. When she agrees, she sends him to Shenyang, China as the new 'special inspector' to track down the fake intel from their base. And it is there, he eventually butt heads with another special inspector Ji Kang-in (Sol Kyung-gu) we find out later is nicknamed Yaksha- hence the title.
I was thinking about giving it a 7 out of 10, but in comparison to other films coming out of Netflix this one is a masterpiece. The character ruthless killer Yakshu evolved from his killing ways to the prosecutor Han Ji-hoon/ Nike who continues to have a clean record. And as i had said, it is like a Mission Impossible movie because it involves groups of people, except that one of them may be a "mole" reminiscent of "Infernal Affairs" with it's twists and turns.
owenpont-70803 - 1 May 2022 It was solid........ While some of the action scenes were filmed rather poorly, the action scenes were acceptable. It is a nothing special, solid enough spy movie. The background is very visually cool. And the writing was fine. There is nothing wrong with this film, its just not a special movie or a movie that stands out. But thats not always bad. Overall if you like spy films this is a solid enough spy film.
