    Sadly, the shark doesn't win
Don't know why anyone is complaining about the sharks when that's the best part of the whole movie. CG is fine, stock video is fine because it's not a shark movie- it's a tampon commercial. I LOVE bad shark movies but this is horrendous.

Cath is killed by her boyfriend, sister Nick finds her in the bathtub so after a lifetime loving diving she's afraid of water. Alrighty. But friends decide to go on a three day kayak trip because the script says so. They take no phones or supplies and apparently tell no one their plan. They're Australian but don't know about sharks. They're kayaking but don't know about paddling.

The only likable character gets eaten, yes eaten- not a scrap of life vest or chunk of flesh remains. Friends make it to an island where mom and kids are hanging out while the dad fishes. Instead of waiting for help they steal a small boat and try to get... somewhere? Boat breaks and leaks so they Don't. Do. Anything. There's some falling in the water for no reason, some arguments and extremely lame attempts to kill the shark by.. drowning it. Oh man.

Then something happens and the movie is over? I wanted to see these painfully stupid chicks get eaten. Oh well. I would really like to know what happened to the kayaks. Did they survive? I was rooting for them, they had more character development than the girls.

Intelligent shark hunts idiot human kayakers
There are so many things bad about this movie (and not in a good B movie sort of way) and it was overall just disappointing, boring/slow paced, and a waste of time. The writing is the worst part. It's unrealistic how stupid the human characters behave, but also the actions of the supposed shark stalking them are super unnaturally as well. It's movies like this with unrealistic portrayals of sharks that give them such a bad reputation, especially great whites.

For the first 20 or so minutes you're introduced to the small cast of female leads. You probably don't even see the shark until after the 30 minute mark. But even with all the drama and time spent on a subpar backstory, you still don't really care if anything happens to this group of friends. The main character is also supposedly suffering from some kind of PTSD for an event that she wasn't even present for. The shark is apparently always hungry no matter how many humans it eats (or doesn't). In fact, the shark is either shown as just a fin above the water, a poor cgi rendering, or footage of a great white that came directly off the Discovery Channel.

The movie tries really hard to showcase underwater shots as well as drone footage high up above, which is pretty for the cinematography. But even the surprisingly decent music isn't enough to save the drawn out plot and poor writing. With the amount of idiotic decisions these kayakers make, it's a wonder any of them are able to survive at all.

You'll be routing for the shark the entire movie and disappointed by an ending that makes absolutely no sense, as there appears to be some kind of time jump that leaves many questions unanswered and does nothing to tie up any of the plot holes. If you're wondering, "Do they ever make it to their destination?"which is supposed to be some kind of amazing destination it takes three days to paddle to, the answer it "who knows?" Don't hold your breath because it's never even mentioned where the survivors end up or how they got there or what the time frame is supposed to be. Instead of including any scenes to wrap up the disaster of a plot, after the "climactic battle," the movie basically just ends and you're left staring dumbfounded at the screen, wondering if you accidentally hit the fast forward button. You didn't. They just either got too lazy to wrap up the film or they ran out of money and said, "Welp, let's just stop it here." I'm telling you, don't waste your time on this one. It's not even so bad it's funny. It's honestly just bad.
