The Ambush

The Ambush

It is the winter of 2018, the men and women of the UAE military are deployed to provide aid. At the Mocha Base, spirits are high as three Emirati soldiers anticipate an imminent return home. While on their final routine patrol, the three soldiers, Ali, Bilal and Hindasi are ambushed by heavily armed militants on their route, through a narrow canyon. Trapped, wounded, and out of communication range, the three soldiers realize the gravity of their situation. They are running out of options, munitions - and time. Back at the base, their commander receives word and realizes that the assault on the UAE army patrol was premeditated. A rescue mission is quickly put into action, but will air and land support reach the men in time, and will they survive?

    Pinned (down)
No pun intended - we get to see quite the impactful movie. It is not Black Hawk down, but it is something else down. I stumbled upon this on my streaming service and it did not dissapoint! We get quite the incredible movie here. But also quite the intense one - not easy to watch at all either. No one that is claustrophobic should watch this either.

Really crazy (and apparently sort of true story if I got it right? Though I suppose with things heightened to make it even more suspensful) - but what would you do in a situation like this? Tough to say, the phone calls to loved ones make sense ... there is an intensity to the whole thing that is tough to watch .. edge of your seat and all that. If you like action (war) movies .. well look no further! Unless you have an issue with subtitles (and this is not being dubbed in your language) ...

    Modern military movie
Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken) and written by Brandon and Kurtis Birtell, The Ambush is the story of Emirati soldiers caught in an ambush which has destroyed their armored vehicle patrol, but its all a trap to take out more soldiers and an Apache chopper that is coming to rescue them.

Morel is great at getting across the action in this, as the troops have to avoid rocket fire, a sniper and landmines if they want to survive. It looks like someone will have to make a sacrifice if anyone wants to survive and if more losses won't be added to the day.

If you're looking for a modern war film, this will definitely fit the bill. It's not anything groundbreaking, but the action is pretty thrilling and I was biting my nails watching the helicopter avoid all that rocket fire!
