MovieswDan - 11 June 2024 Forgettable but also enjoyable Mafia Mamma starring Toni Collette and directed by Catherine Hardwicke is currently streaming on Paramount+. The movie centers around Kristin, an average everyday American mom, who suddenly finds herself in Italy and the new mob boss for the Balbano crime family. As you can expect, it is a bit of an adjustment for her which leads to many funny hijinks mixed with some mafia violence.
This was not a great movie, but I did not hate it. It had a fair number of funny moments, and I loved the relationship between Kristin and her two bodyguards Aldo and Dante. Sometimes a silly movie with a ridiculous premise works and makes the movie so ridiculous that it works. Unfortunately, Mafia Mamma had no such luck. So, in conclusion, this is not a good movie, but I had a good time watching it. If you are looking for a fun yet completely forgettable movie, I suggest giving this a watch.
thembi-31126 - 16 January 2024 Too clownish I actually liked the idea/story itself, and of course the Godfather references. However the comedy was unfortunately on too many parts way too artificial and clownish. That really robbed me of all the fun. The acting wasn't the best either. Toni Collette's character sometimes seemed like a pubescent teenager, but at the same time she wanted to be a Bella Donna.
The movie is absolutely predictable, the plot should definitely be a smarter. Monica Bellucci was in point, she was the pear in that movie.
But there was one good thing about the movie: I want to travel to Italy again, enjoining good food and Limoncello.
