    Too recipe driven
Cute but not snappy I felt it needed more substance.

It was ok as a 'me too musical' but it sort of lacked the X factor. So felt rather flat.

I also felt the cast were somewhat wrong. I can't put my finger in why... but they just came acriss as two dimensional

There are some reasonable musical numbers. But even they felt repetitive

This movie could have worked with a better script. More catchy numbers and a different cast

On the other hand it may be ok as as an afternoon movie for young kids.

If that doesn't match your needs I would suggest trying something than appeals to be the contemporary as well as reptilian mindset.

Sweet refreshing movie for adults and children!
I adore this movie. Watched it on New Years Eve and from start to finish I was engaged. I'm an adult with no kids, and I thoroughly enjoyed this adorable charming masterpiece. The music is the cherry on "Top of the world" 😉 every track is incredible, I've had the soundtrack on repeat for the last week since watching for the first time!

Not everything needs to be complicated all the time... and the simple plot and lack of realism in some areas is refreshing considering most films I've seen in the last 10 years are very adult-ish and put such an effort to have twisty unpredictable plots (sometimes at the cost of the story) but Lyle Lyle Crocodile was such a joyride! No hidden messages, no explicit content, just a feel-good movie and a throwback to my childhood in the best way possible. I only wish I would've known about it sooner to support the film in theaters!

What are you waiting for? Go watch it!!! I'm so shocked more people haven't found out about this truly amazing film... I hope it gets the attention it deserves! Lyle Lyle makes me smile 😊 and if you aren't smiling from ear to ear upon watching him sing, I will EAT MY HAT 😂

    Charming and friendly film
Lyle Lyle Crocodile is a charming children's animation film about a crocodile who sings and helps the family he lives with. He has to prove his worth to stay as a neighbour believes he should be In a zoo, not an apartment.

The animation in the movie is quite good, and the voice acting also helps bring the character to life, and there are several musical numbers that will keep young audiences engaged and singing along.

Overall, Lyle Lyle Crocodile is a delightful children's film that is sure to entertain its viewers. With its engaging plot and memorable characters, this movie is sure to be enjoyed by both young and old alike.

    The Mouthbreather
Found this book to film adaptation to be adorable and cheerful, with two exceptions: The sons mouthbreathing and the crocodile's voice. I found myself distracted by the sons never-closing mouth, whether he was playing into his characters asthma or the actor has a deviated septum, either way, I signed up for a movie starring a talented crocodile, not a swollen tonsil. Secondly, Lyle's high pitched effeminate singing voice, which would probably be more suited to a movie about a singing mouse, clashed terribly with his low and nearly harrowing growls. He would have been much more suited with a Sinatra-esque tone.

    Lyle is in the house!
I'm not a fan of musicals, but this one hit the right spot!

The loveable crocodile Lyle danced and sang it's way into our heart, and me and my 6 year old gladly sang along at the theatre!

The animation of Lyle is perfectly done, and the story has been placed in a modern narrative, without losing the charm of it.

We had some good laughs, and I heard the little ones all over the theatre being truly annoyed by the evil neighbour and engaged in the story of Lyle, Hector and Josh.

This is a story that the youngest ones can enjoy as well as their parents, and I bet that any fan of musicals will be evenly pleased.

    Not worth watching
After seeing this flick, I can honestly say I can't find one redeeming factor as to why anyone should watch it, and many reasons not to watch it. This movie presents that I as a parent don't appreciate my kids being subjected to and plenty of poor story line.

This paragraph is to fill the rest of the required characters, it really doesn't mean anything, but when you require a full blown essay as a review, I fill it in with gibberish as I don't ever want to right a lengthy essay on a movie ever in my life. Frankly, I ignore lengthy reviews and consider them TLDR material. I seriously hate long reviews.

    Mute crocodile that can sing
My teenage sister made me watch the film - but when I saw a cgi character on the poster, I assumed, the film would be decent. If you have a big budget for actors like Javier Bardem and very realistic cgi characters, It would be a shame then to waste it for a bad story and script, wouldn't it?

    Unfortunately it did.

    1. Maybe it is my taste, but I don't think that Mendes's voice was appropiate for a mature, realistic, heavy reptile's singing. Also, how can a crocodile be mute and still be able to sing? Where is the logic?

    2. The film seemed to have many unnecessary sidestories that didn't bring anything good, if anything, they distracted me from understanding the main story. - was the mean neighbour really significant?

    3. Why was it such a key part of the film, where Lyle, Josh and his mum bath in food waste? It made me wonder, what was message? Why did Josh eat literal rubbish and say that it was delicious and "the best thing he ever tried" (as far as I remember)?

    4. From the beginning Josh's mum is portrayed to be a sportsy, healthy mum that very clearly forbidds eating "palm oil", junk food etc. Yet later on, as she is friends with Lyle, she becomes a typical "cool mum" that serves pizza for breakfast - why? Just because she sang a song with Lyle about "not following the rules" and jumped into a bin?

    The list could go on.

I'm sure there was a couple of good messages to be delivered, especially for a young audience, but it didn't happen.

    Lyle the singing Crocodile
I have not read the Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile books, but I know what they are. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022) is a fine kid friendly movie that parents can have their kids watch if they do not have anything else they to do, and if they want a movie to distract them.

The acting in the movie is not bad and Shawn Mendes as the singing voice for Lyle the crocodile was good. Shawn Mendes has a good singing voice and the CGI effects on Lyle the crocodile was good, plus I can see kids liking him in the movie.

There are songs in the movie they sing that are already well known, but there are original songs that Shawn Mendes sings that are not bad. In the movie there are also illustrations from the book that people familiar with the book will recognize.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022) is not for me but for kids. This movie could have had more to it, but it is meant to entertain kids and if can do that, then it did what it was supposed to do.

    Terrible, boring, flat
How this movie has a 6-start rating is beyond me. Incredibly boring and flat, and even the songs are mediocre at best. You cannot justify this basic, boring movie as "it's for the kids". Even for kids, this movie comes across dumb and empty of any lessons or deeper meaning.

I gave it a 2 out of 10 only because of the amazing Javier Bardem, who probably owed someone a big BIG favor and had to do this movie. I rarely add comments to my ratings, but I'm here to warn you: don't waste your time.

If you still do watch it, expect your soul to leave your body about 10 minutes in, and only come back when you turn it off.

Sounds crazy to say, but that was actually pretty good!
So the trailer for this movie looked awful to me. I had no interest in seeing this whatsoever. Then, my daughter picked this to watch for family movie night so we turn it on. I was instantly impressed! Sure, the movie will not win any Academy Awards and doesn't have, the deepest plot in the world. But it was entertaining, funny, quirky, and very engaging. I was very pleasantly surprised. The crocodiles voice did not fit his face, but that would probably be one of my few criticisms icisms of the film. Overall, was a great time in the family watching a movie that was entertaining and much better than I expected.

    Amazing Movie, Nice Music 💚
Singing Crocodile, a little sad. Cute & funny. Great Acting. Family friendly good for son & mom.

Characters in film are very good. Entertaining & sweet. Good holiday film. Great for movie night.

We missed this in the theater and happy to see it on demand. Amazing Movie, Nice Music 💚 We liked it so much we are writing a review. As always Javier Bardem is great, Lyle the Crocodile is a great, realistic and a touching character. We give the movie a WOW because it's so good. We like everything about it. The soundtrack and singing is good. We like the setting in New York. The underling story is important for everyone and relatable.

    Family Friendly Movie!
There was nothing objectionable in this movie. It was such a fun, loving, enjoyable movie. Fun for all ages ( I'm 74 and my grandchild is 8). The acting and directing was excellent, and the special effects of the crocodile was wonderfully done. Lyle was so endearing and Shawn Mendes, who did Lyle's singing voice, was amazing! Javier Bardem was outstanding as Hector. The script followed the beloved children's book faithfully. Our family loved it! I hope this movie is successful at the box office so that maybe Hollywood will get a clue and give us more enjoyable family fare like it. This movie is well worth watching.

    Such a Cute Movie
One wise choice was expanding the role of Hector P. Valenti, exuberantly played by Javier Bardem. We first see Hector as an aspiring performer and magician who cannot get a job. When he's told that his act needs something new, something more than tricks with pigeons and playing cards, he notices Eddie's Exotic Animals shop across the street. In a back room there is a tiny baby crocodile. And he sings. (Another wise choice by this movie: Shawn Mendes provides the croc's sweet, supple tenor.) The CGI is exceptionally well-integrated, and with the help of good sound design, avoids the frequent mistake of making heavy creatures seem weightless. The Pasek/Paul songs are filled with joyful spirit, accompanied by some choice needle-drop classics like Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke" and a well-chosen Elton John number. McNairy and Wu are fine as the concerned parents who each find a liberating freedom after Lyle shows them something new about their favorite pastimes. Fegley keeps us on his side as the worried kid and then as the newly adventuresome devoted friend. Hector names his new friend Lyle and they have a wonderful time singing together. Hector puts everything he has into a grand performance with Lyle. But Lyle, who has never sung in front of an audience, gets stage fright. It is a disaster. Hector goes on the road to make some money and leaves Lyle in the attic, promising he will be back.

"Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" is a bit too long for a family movie, with some unnecessary complications toward the end, and it's not quite up to the "Paddington" level of movie adaptations of classic children's books. But it is a warm-hearted family film with great musical numbers that will make another generation of kids hopefully search the attic on the chance that they might find a singing crocodile.

    Who approved this script???
Where do we start...? Ok, even with the intended audience of this movie in mind, the story sucks. I saw this film with a couple of nephews and we were all super bored. If they are not interested in this movie, imagine me.

But let's try to look for good points. We are in 2022 so the visual effects are consistent with the year, nothing to say in that regard. It's noticeable that the team behind the scenes is professional, because everything is at a fairly decent level. Photography, performances, soundtrack, etc. For these points my rating is a 5 instead of a 3.

Then it's impossible not to rant again against the story, which in addition to being boring, has many questions, starting from the biggest of all: who came up with that a crocodile could be adorable? So many other questions aren't even worth mentioning.

Without a doubt, this film is a great bet that is lost everywhere.
