    Not bad
Thrillers about people getting caught up in murder mystery in Europe are quite fun. From Frantic to Taken. This clearly directed movie takes place in Split Croatia exotic enough to have a slight sinister air. Leighton Meester acts convincingly and is not afraid to look unglamorous. When she meets her friend in Split she tries to unravel the mystery. Even becomes the suspect. Lots of people feel suspicious but there is a thorough explanation for things in the end after all the twists. Maybe one too many.

The production values are ok but they don't show that many pretty parts of Croatia. The police are made out to be rather incompetent.

    Taxi Driver
The film's protagonist Beth takes a weekend holiday to beautiful Split, Croatia on the Adriatic. For the fling, Beth leaves behind her husband Rob and her adorable baby Aster. There was some dazzling footage of the city, the sea, and the great historic locations of Split.

Beth's bestie named Kate has planned an elaborate weekend for her friend. The partying includes the hiring of male escorts. But the plan implodes when the women are drugged. Kate goes missing, and eventually her body is discovered. And, incredibly, Beth is the principal suspect in the murder!

The best scenes in the film are those with Beth and the taxi driver named Zain. There was good chemistry between the characters, and Zain provides undying support to Beth in clearing her name.

It was unfortunate that Zain drops out of the film towards the end. There is an interesting twist with the character of Beth's husband Rob, who at one point had an affair with Kate. The plot thickens when Beth begins to explore her wayward husband's philandering.

There was an interesting style to the film that hovered between a murder mystery and a rom com. Beth will assuredly never forget her experience in Split. And she will never forget her special connection with her cabbie.
