This air catastrophe movie blends drama, intrigue, tension, violence and plot twists.
A hijacked 'World Airways Boeing 767' will crash in just 97 minutes when its fuel runs out. Boeing commercial airline is hijacked by some nasty terrorists, the strong will of Chief Hawkins (Alec Baldwin) together with his subordinate NSA Director Toyin (Jo Martin) prepare to have the plane shot down before it does any catastrophic damage on the ground, leaving the fate of the innocent passengers in the hands of Alex (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), an undercover Interpol agent who has been embedded in the terrorist cell.

97 Minutes (2023) is an exciting and entertaining but full clichés and stereotypes with acceptable performances. The picture contains thriller, suspense, drama, tension and is quite entertaining although with some flaws and gaps .The movie is another jetliner epic with tough hero Jonathan Rhys Meyers; here ticking clock scenario unfolds as a hijacked 767 airplane faces imminent disaster when its fuel supply dwindles, with just 97 minutes remaining. That's why the undergover agent along with crew, flight attendants and pilot taking on a dangerous terrorist group. The film is detailing hectic flighty hijacked by threatening terrorists and the frightened passengers. All clichéd and stock characters with regurgitation of all usual stereotypical situations from disaster films .

The film ¨97 minutes¨ follows the style of the disaster genre films that had their splendor in the 70s and 1980s, such as: Airport (1970) by George Seaton, Skyjacked (1972) by John Guillermin, Airport '77 (1977) Jerry Jameson , Airport (1975) by Jack Smight, The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979) by David Lowell Rich. If you've seen the original ¨ Airport ¨ (George Seaton ), the daddy of them all, you've seen them all, in fact, the terrorist character is likeness to Airport's Van Heflin.

These films of the 'Airport' saga were characterized by large casts of known stars; however, here the good cast is only made up of two actors Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin who give passable performances, the remaining cast of secondary actors is quite unknown, being only worth mentioning MyAnna Buring and Jo Martin.

The motion picture was mediocrelyly directed by Timo Vuorensola, though it has some defects, flaws, and failures. He is a good actor and director and the lead singer and songwriter in Finnish experimental industrial band Älymystö. Timo is a craftsman who has made a few films , such as : Iron Sky (2012), Sky: The Coming Race (2019) and Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning (2005). Rating: 4.5/10. Average.

    Dud!
I enjoy action movies, and have a high tolerance for low quality but this flick is just awful at every level except the principal cast, whose participation in this project surprises me. They should have tried to not get noticed with an Alan Smithee credit.

For next time, 767s have two pilots, if a bullet pierces the skin of a jetliner the pressure goes down not up, a plane can't fly for long with its aft fuselage on fire, a suitcase nuke is light enough to carry by one man and won't flatten a plane's tires, a plane doesn't have the bandwidth to receive a massive upload even from a "relay" and the "tech speak" is embarrassing.

I wanted to like it, gave it a good try, just couldn't. I watched to the end to see if it could get any worse. It did.
