deborahpereiraestg - 23 March 2024 So bad it's actually good To be honest, I had fun.
The storyline is terrible, the characters are terrible, the antagonist is terrible (you can tell just by the name 'grimcutty', honestly), but somehow it got me hooked. They really tried to make a modern day horror with the whole internet challenge plot and the ASMR (that made me cringe so bad I was actually laughing 1 minute into the movie) and even though it should be relatable to teenagers the whole thing is just unrealistic and stupid and I guess that's what makes it fun to watch. Just basically watching the whole thing fall apart.
I guess it all depends on what you are expecting from the movie. If you watch it from a classic horror Halloween, Nightmare on Elmstreet perspective, you will hate it for sure. But if you go in with a 2000s satire trashy movie state of mind, you will enjoy it.
hagshew - 11 September 2023 Actual Garbage This film was actual garbage and a misery to watch.
The script is horrible, you can tell by literally reading the quote that was left lol
"Asha Chaudhry: I stabbed you!
Amir Chaudhry: I know. It's ok... I deserve it.
Asha Chaudhry: No you don't... you don't deserve it."
My god man, and the creature looks like trash too.
The challenge is never explained, it just exists and Kid Cudi starts hunting down the charecters.
The horror is non-existent, you get these random like violin spikes that are supposed to make you feel scared over blurry images of one of the worst designs ever.
Like seriously, the design is so horrible that any attempts at being scary are so funny, which is not helped by subpar acting.
There are so many random events that happen in the movie that make no sense, then it's like whoever wrote the movie suddenly remebered that and so they tie back to it for a quick scene.
Every attack from the Grim Nutty Buddy Bar is so planned out that any attempts at being scary are so forced and it completely removes all of the tension.
So many of the lines are awfully written, it's a miracle that the actors are decent enough to not burst out laughing.
Not to mention how Crimgutty is never explained and has one of the worst names ever made. He exists, and that's the explanation. Random abilities he has pop from out of nowhere and rarely appear again.
Oh yeah, that's something that happens a lot throughout the movie. Random stuff just happens and is never explained, I can't tell if this movie has some deep metaphor or if the writers were freestyling the entire script.
The charecters are so inconsistent and easily swayed that I can't tell if the writers intentionally made them about as intelligent as the average walnut or if the writers fit that description.
The kid at the beginning has no explanation for finding out Grimcutty's weakness, it's like he has some psychic ability, and the writer's never explain this either. It was so hard to actually find that out.
Grimcutty has no reasoning or explanation, like how did he come to be? It's just completely unexplained.
So y'know, this movie has a horribly designed monster, awful charecters, several plot holes, an extremely poorly written script, 85% of it is left unexplained, it's got an awful name, the horror in a horror movie is non-existent, there's no tension and any tension is overridden by how funny the creature looks. The only positive thing about this movie is that some of the actors are decent.
1/10, I feel like watching paint dry would be a more fufilling and entertaining experience than watching this movie.
