andregoncalves-52304 - 22 May 2024 Don't let the Perfect be the enemy of the Good Those who don't like or even hate this film completely miss the point. As others have pointed out, if you want a documentary, go watch Jeremy Clarkson's segment on the Grand Tour. If you want to see the 037 and Quattro racing in the 1983 WRC (I know it wasn't called that back then), go on YouTube.
This film is a David vs Goliath story. The cars aren't the main character. It's a movie about Cesare Fiorio and his cunning and ingenuity!
Sure it doesn't have the budget and production of a big Hollywood Blockbuster, but that's part of the charm, isn't it? It looks very good. Sometimes it was even hard to tell when they were using archive rally footage or what they actually filmed.
Other aspect many seem to not praise enough was the sound design. I wasn't expecting just how well the car sounds would be depicted!
Let if be made clear this is a movie for car enthusiasts. I would even dare to say it's the anti Fast & Furious.
felipe-eduardo - 15 January 2024 A good movie, but that's not the way to adapt an excellent story. I'm a motor racing enthusiast and I know the story that inspired the movie. Many real events were brought in, but in a very superficial way. And other events were introduced in the wrong way. I won't give away any spoilers, the movie is good overall. I think that if you're not such a fan of the WRC you'll love the movie. For those of us who are fans, the movie is a bit embarrassing. After watching the video, I recommend that you research the real story, which is much more exciting. TheRUB channel has a 20-minute video that explains what the 1983 season was all about.
I still think it's a good movie, but the adaptation of the story wasn't precise enough to satisfy true WRC fans.
