Kinds of Kindness

A triptych fable following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.

    Kind of brilliant.
Absolutely loved this. Found the whole thing very engaging and thought provoking, with alternate turns of laughter and intense disgust or horror - the repeated motifs and the differing characterisations all serving to add layers of depth and intrigue. I think there were definitely some meta concepts being played with here, and the second stanza was very strong I felt in an exploration of domestic violence and the way it can grow within a relationship.

In fact, to some extent, the whole thing felt like a demonstration of how bastardly men can be in general and to women specifically. As for the length, why don't movies have intermissions any more? With a three-parter like this one, you could easily have slotted in a ten-minute break after the second without losing momentum I feel (although the comment about Lanthimos playing with the audience as well isn't one I'd considered and might be on the money). Really good film for me, would like to go back and re-examine it again to try and piece some more together because afterwards, I found my memory overlapping and overlaying the different stories in a not unpleasant way.

Absurd? Sure, but in the funniest possible way
You need to go watch this with an open mind. It's got there stories, loosely connected by a single and apparently unimportant character which in both the beginning and ending. Anyway, you'll find it truly disgusting sometimes and incredibly funny others. A must watch. I saw a man leave the theatre while we were half into the second story, but don't take this as a sign of anything. Maybe that guy should have bought a ticket for Despicable me 4 on Inside out 2.

For me it's definitely a must watch, specially if you liked previous films by the same writer/director. I'm pretty sure it will definitely leave good memories on your mind.
