Pretty good I just can't stand musicals
I'm a year late to watching Encanto I see why it got so much appreciation enough to win best animated movie; the story is wonderful but the musical aspect is unbearable especially for me just figured I'd watch anyways. Phenomenally filmed with amazing vibes and the main actress is charmingly engaging she's exceptional at voice work! I was hoping to enjoy more but it's really just average. There's a huge fan base that craves musicals I just won't ever see the appeal it takes away from the story. Lin Manuel Miranda is great I like when he was in Curb your Enthusiasm that was legendary entertainment! Encanto is delightful for a portion of aspects that's for sure and I would recommend it.

    A perfectly fine animated film
In a family where every member has some sort of magical gift, the one who doesn't seem to have any magic sets out to stop whatever is threatening to extinguish the source of their magic.

This is a pretty middle-of-the-road Disney outing with some strong plusses and some negatives.

The animation is really gorgeous, Probably the best computer animation that Disney has produced to date. The voice cast do good work. It's a generally really entertaining film that refreshingly has no real villain and no cute animal sidekick.

The music is not particularly good, and most annoyingly, some major plot points are contained only in the damn songs. I don't like belatedly finding out that I needed to pay closer attention to the song I didn't particularly like.

The Columbian setting and culture is really vividly realized. It doesn't feel like window dressing. It feels like an exploration of a new context for a Disney film. That said ... the plot feels like a fairly generic Disney plot plonked into this setting.

The final consideration though ... the film features dancing donkeys, so it's okay with me.
