Narrated like a 1930s detective movie & poor casting
I had a hard time getting to like this movie - each time it got interesting it was interrupted by Hugh Jackson's voice overs. Like some old movie narration to explain character emotional connection - just left a gagging sensation (insult to the intelligence of the viewing audience). Potential was here and I was reminded of The Final Cut (Robin Williams) and the 'rememory' storyline from that. Poor casting decisions with characters also left a bad taste...The Greatest Showman and lip syncing by Ferguson....maybe she was singing in this movie but the previous acting pairing just brought that up due to the poor character development here. Newton held her ground and I found her character strongest but the narrative by Jackson, prior rôle similarities.....just made the concept and plot stumble repeatedly. Maybe the casting of Ferguson with her previous singing roll with Jackson just made the movie prone to failure. And if you were not familiar with Williams movie (The Final Cut) maybe the plot would have held your attention more but not a worthwhile effort to view in my opinion.

This cost 54M to make? Wow.
A good film develops characters. Watching this film almost felt like every actor just phoned it in. Every character is cliche, bland, and superficial. That's just the beginning.

The plot is confusing, plodding, dull, repetitive, and goes nowhere. It's like watching a boring book on film.

Why did they give Lisa joy the reigns to a 54 million dollar budget when it's her first feature? I can see why Warner Bros and hbo max are laying people off and their stock has tanked. Don't bother with this one folks. Watch some Seinfeld reruns or something instead.
