Well production but story is all over the place
Production is well done but It shows how important a director who understands how to tell the story. The original story (and film) is brilliance and well structured, this is not. The story broke into pieces and got unnecessarily long and boring (in half of the length of the whole movie, it only manages to covet the part of the environment description: hostile parents and the school master). It demonstrates poor control of the pace of the story. The detail do not serve the purpose to push the story forward, I had to fast forward plenty of times in the first half (and do not miss much) .

The story telling is painfully cumbersome that I eventually gave up a little after the middle. It loses its wits and magical feeling compare to the film version even though the color / set design here works better towards this direction. I believe this is part on the director and part on the adapted scripts since everything else is quite good.

I Would Never Say No to Watching This Movie
Maybe I'm a little biased because I was in a production of this musical, but I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I think that everyone was the perfect choice for their roles and they retold the story beautifully. I especially loved the ending scene!

My favorite Matilda song was "Miracle", but honestly now I think I love all of them with "Revolting Children" a little bit in the lead.

I think everyone can find something to enjoy. Emma Thompson fans will enjoy all Trunchbull scenes, all theater nuts (like me) will enjoy the songs, and all you love movies will enjoy the entire masterpiece!

If you decide not to watch this movie, what are you doing?

Thank you for reading my review.
