    Brilliant comedy
Well, maybe this is just my type of comedy, but I did enjoy it from the very first minute, without having any prior expectations. True, there are several 'Mel Brooks' moments, which have aged well and are still funny. The writers, producers and the crew have done a great job.

The story line is pretty standard, but what I mostly enjoyed were the small details and adult jokes and references. On the downsides, it doesn't have anything particularly new and is rather a parody than an original work. But hey, Disney copies it's own movies all the time, so I'll give it a pass.

Overall, definitely worth watching, both for kids and adults.

The bad reviews missed the point
... to the point of stupidity. Really.

No, it is not a "ripoff of kung fu panda." China and Japan are actually different places with different cultures.

This was also not someone "ripping off" Mel Brooks. He directed it! He's in it! And the role he plays is the same one he plays in Blazing Saddles.

Because it IS Blazing Saddles. The writers of the original are even credited. Given how many American Westerns were redone Samurai movies, it's a pretty established pattern.

It's definitely got some tongue-in-cheek references. It has some jokes that (as Mel Brooks movies do) push the line. But it tells a good story and has solid voice acting, so I'm not sure where some of the complaints are coming from.
