okpilak - 27 May 2024 Interesting, but not that good. I guess one could say it was filmed in depress-a-vision. A capsule from Kepler lands, after the first attempt (Ulysses I) met failure. It is a disastrous landing, but two survive, a man and a woman, but he is badly injured, and succumbs. There are inhabitants of the planet, one of mud flats, mist and fog, and altogether miserable. Ulysses II is sent from Kepler to see if the woman can be able to conceive, since on Kepler, women cannot. The natives of the planet are known as the mud people, and it perfectly captures their life. One knows that, as there are others on the planet and that becomes the major plot of the movie. I give credit to the movie for sustaining the premise that they wanted to show. But most viewers will quickly forget this movie. Just don't analyze this movie too deeply, as the holes are numerous.
justahunch-70549 - 25 December 2022 Interesting production values if that's your thing It looks good. Very atmospheric with pretty good production values for a small budget. The problem is the writing, though the concept is interesting and timely. Humans use up all of Earth's resources and the elite, apparently, journey to another orb, but a major problem develops when females can no longer reproduce, so back to Earth it is to find out if it is habitable again. An expedition is sent and never heard from again, so a second is sent. This one rather incredulously contains the daughter of the man who led the first flight. After that, among the great atmosphere and a lot of suffering, are a ton of illogical plot points and clichés galore. In the lead is Nora Arnezeder doing her best Sigourney Weaver imitation, though that's not really fair as she is pretty good in this. The comparison comes to mind due to her being a very relentless female action character and so much of this looking like some of Alien even though this is not remotely about aliens. The rest of the rest is irrelevant, though there is an adorable boy played well by Eden Gough. What she finds on Earth is sort of interesting, though not interesting enough.
