A Glorious Celebration of Cricket and Triumph
'83 takes us on a nostalgic journey back to a defining moment in Indian sports history-the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the film captures the essence of the era and the sheer determination that led the underdog Indian cricket team to an unforgettable triumph.

Ranveer Singh, in the role of iconic captain Kapil Dev, delivers a powerhouse performance that not only does justice to the cricket legend but also serves as the heartbeat of the movie. The supporting cast, comprising talented actors embodying cricketing legends, adds authenticity and charisma to the ensemble.

The film expertly balances cricket action with character development, allowing the audience to connect with the players on a personal level. The camaraderie and individual struggles of the team members are portrayed with heart, making the eventual victory feel like a shared triumph for the viewers.

The recreation of the cricket matches is a highlight, with meticulous attention to detail. The director and the technical team succeed in bringing the intensity and excitement of those historic games to the big screen. The use of real footage from the 1983 World Cup seamlessly blended with the new footage adds an extra layer of authenticity.

'83 not only celebrates cricket but also pays homage to the spirit of teamwork, leadership, and the belief in oneself against all odds. The film doesn't shy away from addressing the challenges faced by the team, both on and off the field, providing a well-rounded narrative that goes beyond the sport itself.

The soundtrack, featuring iconic songs from the '80s, complements the narrative, enhancing the overall nostalgic experience. The production design successfully recreates the era, immersing the audience in a time when cricket became more than just a sport-it became a symbol of national pride.

While the film does follow a predictable sports biopic trajectory, the emotional resonance, stellar performances, and the historical significance of the 1983 World Cup make '83 a captivating cinematic experience. It's a must-watch for cricket enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates a good underdog story that transcends the boundaries of the playing field.

The film could've been much better if the film was made less dramatic and more realistic...
83 is a biographical sports drama film written and directed by Kabir Khan. This movie features an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R. Badree. Boman Irani and Neena Gupta.

The film is based on the Indian team winning the 1983 cricket world cup despite being an underdog. They beats the two time world champions mighty West Indian team.

Every team sports be it football, cricket, hockey or basketball is won by a team but this film looks more like a biography of Kapil Dev instead of the Indian team as the film is primarily and majorly focused on him. The film starts on a promising note but has many scenes which was not required and was unwarranted of. The scene of Late Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi requesting to install a TV to stop riots and Pakistani soldiers calling their Indian counterpart and telling them to enjoy the match commentary as it's final and they will not do firing, officials and even commentators making fun of Indian cricket team was senseless and baseless. The entry of Deepika Padukone as Mrs. Romi Dev doesn't creates any excitement but only adds the length to the film and could've been avoided.

The screenplay of the film is good and acting is also good. Ranveer Singh has done hard-work in adapting the speaking and bowling style of Kapil Dev and it shows in the film. The real cricket lovers or who has witnessed the 1983 world cup themselves might find it difficult to witness that legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Madanlal are completely sidelined in the film.

The climax of the film is very strong and might jerk tear from your eyes.

Overall a decent film but more looked more dramatic and less real. The film could've been much more better of the makers would've focused only on the 83 world cup win and more importance would've given to other players also. Still a decent film to watch and will not disappoint you.
