LilOrangeFox - 2 July 2024 If this were based on a book I would have bought the book 25 minutes into the film. I wish it were.
Beautiful and eloquent while still raw through out the film. The prose used throughout were excellent and well woven into the story. The literary references were well chosen and well used.
Ortega was absolutely perfect for her role. Her juxtaposition of "innocent" girlhood charm with her smolder was perfect, particularly in her monologues.
Only an 8 though because the ending left something to be desired. The movie had a beautiful flow until the last scene. The things left unspoken may have been the point but it left me wanting. It felt unresolved. I enjoyed the perspective flip that it created as to the character of Cairo, and I can see how it fit, but it felt almost rushed.
ingridskaarbar - 8 June 2024 Great movie Think the people that leave bad reviews beacause it's cringe, are very vanilla. Yes it's cringe, But every teen romance is cringe. This is more of a dark romance from a teen point of view, and it's beautiful and interesting, if you let it.
Jenna does a great job, Cairo is a lonley, bored, deserted teen, and Jenna does a great job bringing that to life. Martin is Martin, cant se past Bilbo and some times Bilbo shines a bit throug. But he fits the role. It's proabably good for his career that people can assosiate him with something other than Bilbo. But the best caracter is Winnie, she is such a typical teen, but she just says and does what she thinks. No limits and no consept of right and wrong, before it hits her in the face. What's a better teen concept than that?
