This is one of my favorite movies of all time... I'm serious.
I adore this movie. The story, the characters, the cinematography, the music... I love it all. Caleb McLaughlin gives one of the best young actor performances I've ever seen, Idris Elba is also amazing, Jharrel Jerome shines as well. One flaw I will say is I don't care too much about any of the other characters outside of Cole, Harp, and Smush, but, that's ok. This is a brilliant coming of age story. We see Cole start off as a scared teenager at the beginning, not knowing who he was or his place in life, and he eventually finds a home with these people and starts to actually care about himself the people around him. He actually goes through the hero's journey in this film.

I've seen a lot of people criticize that the film doesn't focus on Fletcher Street enough. I get it, but it's quite clear from the script that this movie is meant to be Cole's story, it's about this teenager going through this journey and Fletcher Street is apart of that, but Cole is the focus.

Overall, I love this movie, I don't get why it has a 6.3/10 IMDb score. It seriously is one of my favorite movies of all time.

    Powerful and honest
This was a really lovely film, great characters, very good performances, combined with real and gritty writing, and a really good story.

It portrayed a story of people who live difficult lives, in a difficult place, but they do it with dignity, humanity and honesty. And they make the most of what they have. Somber, but hopeful, against all odds.
