    Very Thorough Depiction
Oh my, where do I begin? Very delicate and painful topic is here, and what is good, the movie has managed to depict it quite well. Jessica Chastain did a marvelous job as Tamy Faye showing extremely nervous, very tight, high-strung, emotional lady first on the rise then on the deep plummet. She does a very good job here, showing us all the vulnerable parts and all the greedy parts, all the violent parts, all the bravura parts et al. She is very true and deeply persuasive in her deep and decent delivery.

What is a bit unnerving, is Andrew Garfield's delivery - he seems to be often at odds with his part and his performance sometimes lacks both depth and truth, you just feel awkward watching him play or outright nervous.

The whole narrative seems to go very well, and all the main important events are here. What again is a bit frustrating, is certain feeling that obvious chunks of vital info were lost somewhere thus making the plot a bit wanting.

Anyway, what a decent movie, very thorough and sincere at many angles.

It is an important topic and it needed to be addressed.

    One-sidedness everywhere
We already know Tammy was a caricature. What would be interesting to know is if there are other, relatable things true about her life which is what I expected from this film. Everyone in this film is way too one-sided. It mostly portrays Jim and especially Tammy as fools which they really were not. Where is the story? It never moves much past her silliness. I was hoping to see some relatability. Didn't really happen. She never left caricature. She was a victim of a lot of toxicity which was never properly addressed or resolved. Jim and Tammy were not doofuses, they knew exactly what they were doing. Every human has complexities. We see not a lot of that here. The film sticks way too hard to the "Christians are dumb" theme and it smacks of an agenda, or something. It needed a lot more. I guess what I'm saying is, I'd like to see more of Tammy without the makeup, so to speak.
