Milk_Tray_Guy - 7 April 2024 Interesting idea I am a die-hard horror fan, but so called 'elevated horror' tends to leave me cold - and this did just that. The concept (once all is revealed) is surprisingly original, the performances - especially those of Rebecca Hall and Sarah Goldberg - are all very good, and it's nicely shot. For the first 45 minutes or so I was gripped; but as things started to take a different turn it lost me and that strong sense of tension started to fade. Slow-burn ghost stories are my favourite horrors, but this just didn't do it for me. My gut feeling is that fans of Hereditary may well be fans of this too. 5/10.
HorrorDisasterGuy-90617 - 14 August 2023 Effective psychological horror movie. I found the movie to be really interesting with its ideas in it. The story is extremely unique with a widow discovered dark secrets about the house that her deceased husband built. Its really build up really well throughout and have a unsettling atmosphere to it. The movie explores the theme of grief and it works out really well. I really like the psychological horror the movie presented here since the main character starting to become more unstable over the secrets her husband is hiding from her. Also the creepiness factor works really well with it going into the character mind on how she looks like she going to lose her mind over it and the movie have good timing when to do the scares.
The big revealed is really interesting with the whole explanation on the secrets that her husband is hiding from her and what is that thing is haunting her. While sometimes it can get confusing, I found the whole explanation to be really effective and creative.
